01:23 am - детское радио..
за 20 минут езды домой с работы решила в кое-какие веки послушать собственное детское радио (www.detskoeradio.com).
дома его слушать не получается - да и не хочется, для Яшки слишком много всего, ему надо по-одной истории или песенке, а не постоянный поток информации ну и т.д.
вообщем чуть ли не в первый раз сама послушала свое радио
итоги:
- в первый раз услышала чудесную песенку про 'волшебный клей'...
слова припева:
"Но слез не лей,
Но слез не лей!
На свете есть
Волшебный клей.
И в Новый год,
И в Новый год
Срастется все
И заживет! "
эта песня, кажется, наравне с песней о том как "мальчик стричься не желал, мальчик девочкой стал, и теперь он с мамой ходит завиваться в женский зал, а волосы растут"..
- из выпуска Радионяни, узнала как можно узнать где юг с помощью часов.. - это действительно интересно, я не знала:
"Если положить часы на горизонтальную поверхность и поворачивать их до тех пор, пока часовая стрелка не будет направлена в сторону солнца, а затем через центр циферблата на цифру 1 (13 часов)мысленно провести прямую линию (А), то биссектриса угла, образованного ею и часовой стрелкой, пройдет с севера на юг . с Яшкиного дня рождения заметила одну фотку моего папы, на которой он примерно в такой же позе и с тем же предметом в руке как на старом кадре со слайдовой пленки..

Яшка на этой неделе начал садик, на 2 дня в неделю
Первый день я его забрала с пол-дня, чтобы не было перегрузки, а вчера уже попробовали его оставить на целый день
Воспитательница рассказывает как они его пытались укладывать спать:
"Он перепробовал все детские кроватки с решетками и все 'взрослые' кроватки'. Нигде укладываться не хотел. Когда его оставили в 'решетчатой' кроватке, он уселся, просунул ноги через решетки и завел разговоры с другими детками. Потом я вышла, слышу - он громко разговаривает и кричит что-то. Захожу, говорю ему -
- Яша, почему ты кричишь? - а он в ответ -
- ЯША НЕ КРИЧИТ, ЯША ПОЁТ!"
Ну, я и не сомневалась :) Это он любит - сидеть в кровати и разговаривать сам с собой и петь :))
Вообщем как он там будет спать я не знаю, но все остальное ему (и мне) нравится :))

Яшкино.
Он нашел где-то у моих родителей дома игрушечную большую отвертку, завелся какой-то разговор про винтики, в какой-то момент папа у него спрашивает:
- Яша, что это у тебя в руках?
Яша:
- Это отвинтик!
Папа ему показал какую-то гайку потом, Яша продолжил свою мысль:
- А это отдайкник!

сегодня получила по почте посылку - вот такую шикарную книгу:
Д. Хармс. «Сказки, загадки, случаи...». Иллюстраторы: Юрий Дунский и Александр Лепетухин

заняло всего 2 недели на пересылку, стоило $5 за книгу, $10 за почтовую пересылку и $9 за денежный перевод
итого, $24 за книгу, что для такой красивой книги очень даже прилично :)

12:16 am - finally! internet radio via cell-phone
Finally!!! I can take my pick from any number of on-line radiostations and listen to all of that streaming LIVE through my phone!
and, in my car, of course connect it to the audio-in jack that I had installed a while ago
All I needed was to know how much my provider (T-mobile) would charge me for unlimited data use and figure out how to un-brand my Nokia 6301 so that it allows Java applications to access the internet (yes, by default, T-mobile puts this software on a lot of their phones that will block Java apps from accessing the web... so, no Gmail app, no Google maps, of course no internet radio...)..
after searching around on howardforums.com for a while, I found a way to 'flash' my phone back to the original Nokia software that was intended by Nokia to be on this phone...
and now, voila, all the Java apps can access the internet, and I can listen to 'Echo of Moscow' live in my car at any time!!!

12:30 am - 5-minute chopped salad
Here's my newest addition to the kitchen gadget list:
Vidalia Chop Wizzard
(careful, the site opens with sound)
Love it!! Cut up an entire pan-full of onions/mushrooms in 3 minutes, then onto the pan and voila
Great for geting kids to help - Yashka already knows when we make a salad, he gets to pound on the lid to cut cucumbers and tomatoes
Great for making salad-oliver :)) (оливье) - all the potatoes/carrots are cut in a few minutes, all about the same size
I've been using it almost every day for a few months, and nothing broke off so far.. (although my dad managed to break the hinges on the one they had, making it unusable)

12:21 am - magic bullet salad dressing
I got sick of having to always throw out dill, parsley and cilantro (укроп, петрушка и кинза) because I could never use enough of it to keep from spoiling in the fridge, and it always took too long to chop them for salads..
Now, here's a 5-minute salad dressing with the above-mentioned ingredients:
1) wash dill, parsley, cilantro in about equal quantities. Don't separate the stems from leaves, just wash and rinse
2) Cut a lemon in half, cut off the peel from one-half of it (you can take out seeds, too)
Into the magic bullet, place: all the greens, lemon half and enough olive oil/water to cover the greens, add salt/pepper.
Dressing done, none of the chopping of greens for the salad...
Options to add: hard-boiled egg, avocado, shredded (or, cut-up deli) cheese

dessert in 3 minutes
1) peel/core apples. to make this step fast, use these gadgets: OXO peeler (been using it for 5 years, love it) and Oxo Good Grips Apple Corer and Divider
2) wash/take out the green thing out of strawberries
2) place however many pieces of apples and strawberries would fit into a Magic bullet and pure them into an apple/strawberry sauce
3) dump the pure into a double-bottom pot (like this one from Berghoff), and bring to a boil (with a lid, otherwise it will splatter all over)
4) into the same magic bullet cup, place some whipping cream/sugar and whip it up in the bullet (not too long, or it will turn into butter)
5) wait till the pure cools down a bit, pour into individual servings and place a spoonful of whipped cream on top :)

Finally figured out what I wanted vs. price factors in two techno -toys:
1) making my car (2006 Camry) play mp3's from my nokia phone. I've had the nokia adapter for a long time, in my old car, I just stuck it into the cassette adapter, but this new car only has a radio and a cd-player, factory-installed...
No cassette adapter, no aux-in port..
I don t want to be constantly burning audio Cd's, wastes plastic and takes up space in the car...
Regular FM transmitters that are sold at stores SUCK! I can't listen to them, plus they eat a ton of batteries, especially in the winter.

So, after a -very- agonizing research process that involved multiple trips (with Yashka) to Best Buy, crutchfield.com and our local high-end electronics store, I figured it out:
a wired FM modulator. This hard-wires between your stereo and the FM antenna, so after it's installed, you tune into a frequency set in the modulator (88.3 for me), and the signal is crystal-clear, doesn't break, and no other station broadcasting on this frequency would ever take over.
this thing needs to be installed by taking out the radio, wiring , etc - I paid $50 to have it installed at Best Buy
total cost - $56 (with shipping) for the part and $50 for labor, total of $106, it was the cheapest option for me.
Now, I could have just purchased a new stereo that had an aux port and paid the same $50 to have that installed, and on ebay, car radios with an aux port can be purchased for about $50, but the problem was, my car has steering-wheel controls - I can control volume, change stations, etc right on my steering wheel, and a cheap radio for $50 would not be compatible with this steering wheel control. So if I had that radio installed, it would disable the controls, which would not be good for future retail value of the car.
A radio that would allow additional hook-up to the steering-wheel control would cost about $150, plus dash-board kit to install an after-market radio in my Camry ($20), plus adapter for steering-wheel control (about $40), plus more advanced installation - a total would run at about $275...
the way I did it, with the wired FM mod - total cost is $106, steering wheel controls still work, everyone's happy.
I can even use this as a hands-free device - when my phone is plugged into the adapter, all sound comes from car stereo, including conversations.
no need for a bluetooth car connection, etc ..

03:40 am - Яшка - ну мама, заходи, не стой за дверью
Ночью, как всегда, где-то в 3 часа, начинается ОР. Иногда это просто тихий писк, а иногда, особенно когда простуженный, тихий писк превращается из-за соплей в большой ОР, который он уже сам остановить не может, надо зайти и успокоить..
Мы с Димой зашли оба, Яшка у меня на руках успокоился, перестал всхлипывать, согласился пойти обратно в кроватку, а Диму оставил себе - читать.
Я вышла, через минут 5 подхожу к двери послушать что там делается:
Диминого чтения больше не слышно, зато Яшка в отменном настроении сидит в кровати и что-то рассказывает сам себе.
Я хотела чуть-чуть приоткрыть дверь, посмотреть как все это выглядит, дверь скрипнула, меня видно не было, но Яшка услышал и начал:
"А там, за дверью, мама стоит. Мама не заходит почему-то. Мама стоит там, и не заходит."
и вариации на тему еще несколько раз..
потом как закричит: "МАМА, НЕ СТОЙ ТАМ, ЗАХОДИ СЮДА!"
ему скучно там стало, Дима сидя заснул :)
под аудио-сказку 'Чебурашка' он согласился накрыть себя одеялом и отпустить родителей обратно спать.

03:12 am - Яшка - ты просто прелесть!
Поехали как обычно по пятницам к моим бабушке и дедушке, а там для разнообразия была в гостях моя тетя, которая Яшку давно не видела.
Яшка сидит на диване, ждет пока я ему мультик включу
Подходит к нему тетя, начинает - 'ой, Яшкин, ты такой смешной, у тебя такие смешные кудряшки..'
Яшка не теряется и с выражением ей подсказывает как еще его похвалить :
'Ты просто прелесть!"
(это он про себя до сих пор во втором или третьем лице говорит)

Feb 10th - First day of warm weather of the entire long winter of 2008-2009, it was close to 60F! Next day it's back to 25F..
We took the train just for the experience of it, walked in Evanston, played in the park, ate at Olive Mountain and took train back.
then of course Yasha fell asleep in the car, and I parked under a tree and we both napped until My Gym class :)

this is a local Russian-Jewish family. I've been following her blog for almost a year, since Sammy had the bone marrow transplant from his 9-year old sister.. it didn't' work, the disease progressed and it doesn't look good
I can't imagine anything worse for parents to go through

в пятницу мы как обычно, были в гостях у моих бабушки и дедушки (Яшкины пра-бабушка и пра-дедушка)
когда уходили, я, как всегда, подняла Яшку на руки чтобы бабушка могла его поцеловать, а то ей нагибаться трудно, да и за Яшкой не угонишься
бабушка целует Яшку в голову, как она всегда делает и приговаривает ' Ой, какая сладенькая головка; Какая вкусная головка'..
Яшка вдруг отвечает 'Нет, головка не вкусная!!'
бабушка: " А что вкусное?"
при этом она наверное ожидает что он скажет какую-нибудь другую часть тела, там, ручка или еще что-нибудь
я ожидаю что он скажет там 'шоколад', или 'конфетка'
а Яшка так спокойно отвечает
"ЕДА вкусная!!"
вот так, чтобы мы все взрослые не сомневались :)
при этом мне показалось что он наверное решил что бабушка хочет его сьесть раз говорит что у него вкусная голова :)))
а то наслушался он Красных Шапочек :)
потом в машине у него спрашиваю ' Яша, а ты думал что бабушка хочет тебя съесть?" - он смеется и говорит 'ну нееет' :))
ну и хорошо, понял что это шутка :)
